Only Hajj, Umrah pilgrims will be allowed to carry Zamzam water: Saudi Arabia

Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has banned carrying Zamzam water bottles by international passengers and only allowed Hajj and Umrah pilgrims to carry the holy water.

Saudi General Aviation Authority has issued an official notification for the new guideline, restricting the non-pilgrims from carrying Zamzam water from the well back to their countries.

Jeddah International Airport issued a new circular to all private airlines including Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

According to the notification, passengers traveling for Hajj or Umrah will be allowed to carry only one five-liter bottle of Zamzam water while the other passengers traveling on visit or business visas, tourists, or other purposes will not be allowed to take the blessed holy water to home countries.

Authorities also warned of strict action against airlines in case of violation of the new orders.

All the airlines have been directed to ensure that none of the passengers travelling through Jeddah or any other airport in the KSA have bottles filled with Zamzam in their luggage.
