The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) Governor Dr Reza Baqir has revealed that only 29 percent of Pakistani women have bank accounts, which is among the lowest in the world.
According to Dr Reza Baqir, this disparity severely slow downs the Pakistan’s national economic development.
“SBP has taken an initiative through comprehensive National Financial Inclusion Strategy (NFIS) to prioritize women’s financial inclusion and will soon be launching its path-breaking gender mainstreaming policy called Banking on Equality,” he said.
He further added that “promoting equal opportunities for women and men for accessing and pursuing financial and professional endeavors is critical for sustainable and inclusive economic growth in any country.”
