One year of Kashmir siege caused $4 bn economic loss: President Arif Alvi
ISLAMABAD: President Dr Arif Alvi on Wednesday said Pakistan’s actions like unveiling of a new political map and renaming the Kashmir Highway as ‘Srinagar Highway’ on the eve of Youm-e-Istehsal were aimed at highlighting the Jammu and Kashmir dispute at international level.
“The unveiling of a new map by Pakistan is symbolic and such actions are a reiteration by Pakistan and presenting its case on Kashmir before the world,” Arif Alvi said while talking to a local TV channel.
He said Pakistan was also highlighting the military siege of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir by India since August 5, 2019, which caused huge 4 billion US dollars economic losses to the Kashmiri people.
The president said the Modi government’s anti-Muslim actions, which were reflective in the IIOJ&K, were creating hatred among all the Muslims.
“We have to tell the world that India’s Hindutva and Nazi policy is aimed at changing the demographic status of illegally occupied Kashmir,” he said.
One minute silence was observed across the country on the eve of Youm-e-Istehsal today to express solidarity with the oppressed Kashmiri people on completion of one year military siege in Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
It was on the 5th August last year that the special constitutional status of Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir was scrapped by the Modi government.
A host of events have been arranged in order to denounce the Indian unilateral illegal actions against Kashmiri people as well as the atrocities being carried out by the Indian forces in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and the world are observing Youm-e-Istehsal to denounce illegal, immoral and unconstitutional step, which India took on this day last year to strip the IIOJK of its special status.
On this day, the whole nation will give a message to their Kashmiri brethren that they are not alone rather the people of Pakistan will always support their struggle for freedom.
