One lakh worshippers offer Friday prayers after opening of Prophet’s Mosque in Saudi
After the opening of the Mosque of the Prophet in Madinah, more than one lakh worshipers attended the third Friday prayers.
Meanwhile, a partial Friday prayer gathering at Masjid-ul-Haram in Makkah attended by Haram administration officials, health and safety staff, and imams and shaykhs.
Furthermore, prayers from Friday were offered in the congregation with SOPs in all the country’s mosques.
Prayers were also offered at the Qiblatin Mosque, the Qaba Mosque, the Syed Al-Shuhada Mosque, and other large Madinah mosques.
It may be recalled that Saudi Arabia on March 20 had restricted congregational prayers in Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al-Nabawi in view of the country’s rise in coronavirus cases.
Coronavirus cases have exceeded 1.5 million in Saudi Arabia whereas 1,184 people have died.
Note that this year, for the first time in modern history, Saudi Arabia is likely to scale back or call off the Hajj pilgrimage as coronavirus cases surge.
