‘Offer my funeral prayer in every city and street’
Pakistani nuclear physicist and metallurgical engineer, Abdul Qadeer Khan has requested people to offer his funeral prayer in every city and street after his demise.
Qadeer Khan, also known as the father of Pakistan’s atomic weapons program, has been placed on ventilator after he contracted coronavirus on August 26. According to his spokesman, the 85-year-old was admitted at Khan Research Laboratories hospital.
He has requested people for prayer as he is being treated at the hospital. “I served the country and the nation with all my heart and soul and did not do anything wrong. I did what I was asked to do,” he said.
“After my death, offer my funeral prayers and prayers for forgiveness in every city and street of Pakistan,” he said.
He said Pakistan was dear to him and its citizens’ protection and security was his duty. “My Allah is my witness. I could have gone anywhere and become a billionaire,” he added.
Abdul Qadeer Khan had founded uranium enrichment program for Pakistan’s atomic bomb project and the Kahuta Research Laboratories (KRL) in 1976. He has also written numerous columns in different newspapers. The metallurgical engineer made research contributions to molecular morphology, the physics of martensite alloys, condensed matter physics, and materials physics as well.
Earlier in September 2019, rumours about his health condition had spread which Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan had and said he was alive and kicking.
“You must be anxious after hearing rumours about my health. I am also receiving phones inquiring about my health. Some nincompoops are spreading bad news about me. Some say that I am ill and others say I have died.
“These are nothing but rumours. Alhamdulillah, I am completely fine and alive. Insha Allah, Allah (SWT) will keep me alive some more years so that people who hate me are more so roasted,” he had said.
