ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday said that the government was not shutting down businesses, nevertheless people must adhere to COVID-19 standard operating procedures.
“People should avoid going to gatherings. Rallies in Gilgit-Baltistan rocketed coronavirus cases,” said PM Imran Khan while addressing the nation on coronavirus situation in Islamabad.
He said it was time that the nation should adopt COVID-19 SOPs just like in Ramadan. Winter vacations would be announced in educational institutes, if corona cases grew and decision in this regard would be taken in a week or so, he maintained.
“No event can host more than 300 people and no public gatherings will be held across Pakistan,” he said announcing ban on public rallies and wedding events at lawns.
PM Imran said that wearing of mask at public places would be mandatory. He said Allah (SWT) had protected Pakistan from the number of deaths and infection cases that our neighbouring countries witnessed in the first wave of COVID-19.
He said our economy was also not affected as much as others’. If we did not be careful then our hospitals would witness the same condition that was experienced in June the following year, he said.
The prime minister said that lockdown had restarted in the United States and other countries. He said we had to protect our country from economic fallout as well. He said Pakistan was the only country in the world where mosques were not closed and the virus did not spread from them.
