Pakistan and Norway agreed that they should work together on the debt relief initiative.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi contacted his Norwegian counterpart, Ine Eriksen Søreide, by telephone to make the contract.
FM Qureshi stressed the importance for developing countries of Pakistan’s Global Debt Relief Initiative in enabling them to devote their resources to countering COVID-19 and mitigating its economic effects.
Shah Mahmood Qureshi also briefed the Norwegian FM on Pakistan’s steps to this effect.
In these difficult times he also underlined the need for cooperation within the international community.
FM Qureshi also expressed condolences about the loss of life in Norway due to coronavirus outbreak.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed concern over the ongoing restrictions on communications and movement in Indian held that Kashmir was hampering the dissemination of information and the unfettered provision of medicines and other vital elements required to fight the pandemic.
In the background of COVID-19, he also stressed concern over the demonization of Muslims in India.
The Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs thanked his Pakistani counterpart for expressing their solidarity.
Both decided on the importance of international collaboration to combat the pandemic.
