The veteran actor Noman Aijaz revealed about the payment issues in the drama industry on the show ‘Behind the Curtain with Rafay Rashdi’
According to Noman Aijaz, different production houses of the drama industry had to pay him Rs65 million. Whereas, a channel had to pay him Rs40 billion and another channel owed him Rs25 million.
The actor labelled the entire industry as corrupt due to the unnecessary holding of payments.
“We work like donkeys nowadays. During pandemic broadcasters demanded from producers to come up with content which was promised, following which producers started blackmailing the actors. And if actors did not work, they would not be offered work later also. For this reason many actors hid their contraction with Covid-19,” said Aijaz.
He said there’s no accountability in ‘gundagard‘ (hooligan) drama industry.
Moreover, there’s no concept of royalties in the Pakistani drama industry, as per Noman Aijaz. “I was paid royalties only once for Nijaat that I did for PTV in the 1990s,” he said.
