ISLAMABAD: Minister for Finance and Revenue Shaukat Tarin on Thursday said no new taxes would be imposed on poor segments of society in the budget for next financial year.
“A considerable relief would also be provided to the downtrodden segments in the next budget,” Shaukat Tarin said while talking to a local news channel.
He said the incumbent government was focusing on broadening tax net to further improve and stable the national economy.
The finance minister said the government was trying to further enhance exports and revenue collections, besides taking numerous administrative measures in a bid to achieve sustainable economic growth.
To a query, he said the government would give targeted subsidies to the power sector this year.
