No More Plastic! Pepsi Plans to Sell Aquafina in Cans

Thirsty? How about a can of chilled… WATER?

In 2020, PepsiCo will start selling its Aquafina water in Aluminium Cans. In an initiative taken by the company to reduce its plastic use, after facing severe backlash from consumers for excess use of plastic Pepsi has decided to sell Aquafina in metal cans rather than the regular plastic bottles it used to come in. The cans will be soon sold at different restaurants and fast food chains.

Humans have generated nearly 10 billion tons of plastic in the last 70 years. That needs to stop.

“Pepsi has set a goal of using nothing but recyclable, compostable or biodegradable packaging by 2025”, the company said.

The changes will eliminate 8,000 metric tons of virgin plastic and roughly 11,000 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions.

“We are doing our part to address the issue head on by reducing, recycling and reinventing our packaging to make it more sustainable, and we won’t stop until we live in a world where plastics are renewed and reused.” – PepsiCo Chairman and CEO Ramon Laguarta
