Nine injured in firing incident during drama shooting in Karachi
KARACHI: At least nine people got injured in a firing incident during shooting of a drama at Defence Housing Authority (DHA) in Karachi.
Local news channels reported that drama for Geo channel was being shot at Khayaban e Shujaat, where a security guard opened fire after exchanging hot words with producer of the drama.
Rescue teams immediately arrived at the site of the incident and shifted the injured to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre hospital for treatment. The injured have been identified as Muhammed Akbar, Muhammed Yousaf, Muhammed Shehzad, Muhammed Zahid, Owais, Farhan and Shehzad.
JPMC Executive Director Seemin Jamali said the victims had received injuries on their faces and arms, while their condition was out of danger. The gun used in the incident was pellet gun.
SSP South Zubair Nazeer said that the production team had rented the house for shooting and the security guard stopped them from eating there when they were eating lunch. “However, they continued eating, upon which the security guard opened fire while pointing his gun towards floor. The bullets bounced back and hit members of the production team,” he said.
Police said the security guard has been arrested for attacking.
