Nida Dar wins ICC Women’s Player of the Month award for October

In a major achievement, Pakistan’s star all-rounder Nida Dar has been named the ICC Women’s Player of the Month for October 2022 due to her incredible performance during the Women’s Asia Cup.
During the T20 World Cup 2022 being played in Australia, the ICC announced the names of the best players for October, where India’s star batsman Virat Kohli was awarded the best player of the month for his brilliant performance in men’s cricket.
According to a statement released by the ICC, both Virat Kohli and Nida Dar have been selected after voting by media representatives, ICC Hall of Fame inductees, former international players and fans worldwide.
During the Women’s Asia Cup earlier this year, Nida Dar scored 145 runs at an average of 72.50 and took 8 crucial wickets.
Nida Dar was at her best in the historic win against India in Sylhet, Bangladesh, where Pakistan was batting first with the score of 33 runs for 3 wickets, but she scored an unbeaten 56 runs and helped the team’s total score to reach at 137 runs.
Nida Dar performed brilliantly in bowling too and took important wickets of India’s Harmanpreet Kaur and Jemima Rodrigues and India failed to achieve the target while India later won the tournament.
“It was great to be nominated for this award and it’s very special for me to receive it,” Nida Dar said after the ICC honour.
“I wish we had won the Women’s Asia Cup but I am happy that we did well as a team,’ she added.
