News about rape of Christian girl in Faisalabad turns out to be fake
KARACHI: The news which went viral on social media in Pakistan about rape of a Christian girl, Sunita Masih, has turned out to be fake and an organized propaganda against Muslims and Pakistan.
The report had claimed that the 14-year-old girl was gang-raped after she denied to recite kalima and convert to Islam.
When a local media house fact-checked the news, it was revealed that the claim was first made by a Christian man, Rahat Austin, who had migrated to South Korea from Pakistan and was found involved in spreading fake news earlier as well.
Thousands of people including Canadian-Pakistani actress Armeena Khan had shared the news on social media and Twitterites even made it a top trend on Twitter with hashtag #JusticeforSunitaMasih. Most of the netizens who were sharing the news belonged to India, the United States, Canada and other countries, other than Pakistan.
Such fake reports are spread to smear Pakistan in name of rights for minorities.
