Newlywed commits suicide as no toilet in husband’s home
According to Indian media reports, a 27-year-old woman from Tamil Nadu, India, allegedly committed suicide after becoming frustrated with her husband’s failure to install a toilet in the house.
Ramya was a pharmacist and worked in a private hospital. After being in a relationship with her husband Karthikeyan for more than two years, she finally got married on April 6.
However, about a week after the marriage, Ramya returned to her mother’s house as there were no toilets in her husband’s house.
According to Indian media, the husband assured her that he would soon rent a house with toilet facilities but allegedly did not keep his promise. Later, Ramya became frustrated and tried to take her own life on May 6.
Ramya’s mother found her hanging from a sari in the room while she was having difficulty breathing, after which she was taken to hospital and kept there for two days but died on Monday.
According to Indian media, the last letter was not written before the woman committed suicide, but in the complaint lodged with the police, Ramya’s mother alleged that my daughter was upset because there was no toilet in her husband’s house which also led to suicide.
The investigation also revealed that the bride’s father was not happy with the relationship, which is why he did not attend the wedding.
