Newly-appointed Karachi Administrator announces to suspend KMC parking fees

Newly-appointed Karachi Administrator Dr Syed Saif-ur-Rehman on Friday announced to suspend the charged parking fees of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) as he assumed office today.
Addressing the meeting of various metropolitan departments, Dr Saif-ur-Rehman said that KMC will not collect parking from today.
“The parking staff should be removed and parking will be free for citizens until the auction,” he said.
He revealed that KMC employees owned charged parking of different areas of metropolitan city including Karachi Zoo, Safari park. He further barred KMC employees from taking contracts of charged parking in the city.
Rehman announced to increase the rent of KMC shops and directed to repair roads of 28 major roads of Karachi in first Phase.
A day earlier, The Sindh government appointed him as the new Karachi Administrator.
“In exercise of powers, vested U/s 21(3) of Sindh Local Government Act, 2013 […] and with the approval of the competent authority, upon acceptance of resignation of Barrister Murtaza Wahab […] Dr Syed Saif-urRehman, an officer of PAS (BS-20) […] is hereby appointed as Administrator, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation,” notification reads.
The development came after Sindh Local Government Minister Syed Nasir Hussain Shah said that MQM-P nominee would be appointed as the Karachi Administrator in a day or two.
