‘New variant of Covid-19 is most dangerous,’ says Asad Umar
The head of the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) Asad Umar has warned about the impact of the new variant of Covid-19.
Asad Umar along with Dr. Faisal Sultan in a presser today held in Islamabad has said that the “new variant of Covid-19 is most dangerous.”
He further said that the new variant ‘Omicron’ will come to Pakistan. To crib the spread, the arrival of those travelers will be banned whose countries have witnessed the new variant already.
Asad Umar was quite clear in his press conference that the only way to fight the pandemic was to get vaccinated.
The head of NCOC has encouraged the citizens to get vaccinated as soon as possible.
“Booster shots decision will be taken tomorrow,” said Asad Umar.
Asad has mentioned that those traveler arriving countries included in ‘category c’ will require permission from the NCOC prior to entering Pakistan.
The travelers will have to provide complete vaccination proof before being given green light.
Omicron, a new variant has emerged last week on the global level. This variant has originated from the southern African region.
Scientists have mentioned that this new variant is ‘highly transmissible’.
Belgium, Israel were among the first countries to report the cases of this new variant. More than 40 countries have slapped a travel ban on south African countries.
