New COVID-19 variant detected in Singapore

The new variant of covid-19 which was first found in the United Kingdom has been detected in Singapore now.
According to the health department of the city-state 11 people had been isolated after they were suspected of suffering from the new variant of the viral disease, after one patient was confirmed to be affected by B117 strain.
The government has quarantined all the affectees who arrived from Europe and their close contacts for 14 days.
However, the health ministry has said that it would be beforehand to announce that the strain was spreading in the state as they had found no such evidence.
Singapore has begun viral genomic sequencing for the fresh cases from Europe. The ministry said that it was adopting precautionary measures to halt spread of the new strain.
