ISLAMABAD: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has postponed the matter of raising the price of electricity by 86 paisa per unit.

NEPRA Chairman Tauseef Farooqi, while providing incomplete details during the hearing of the recovery case from consumers in the last quarter of the last financial year, expressed anger at the Central Power Purchasing Agency and asked why ISCO’s capacity charges increased by more than Rs 7 billion. ?

On this, the officials of ISCO Chief Central Power Purchasing Agency (CPPA) should be asked why the increase of Rs 7 billion?

During the hearing, NEPRA Chairman Tauseef Farooqi said that action would be taken against those responsible if full details were not provided. The hearing cannot be held until full details are provided.

Officials of former WAPDA companies (Discos) have taken a stand that Rs 85 billion is to be received in the fourth quarter of the last financial year. CO ISCO said that Rs 12 billion should have been received in this regard.

During the hearing, the Chairman NEPRA asked where are the Chief Executive Officers of CPPA? The CEO CPPA is in the Ministry of Energy meeting, officials said. Why aren’t the CPPA CEOs present at such an important hearing?
