NEPRA approves revision in electricity prices

NEPRA approves revision in electricity prices

NEPRA has approved the revision of electricity prices. Electricity prices were adjusted in terms of monthly fuel adjustment.

According to NEPRA, electricity prices were increased for 5 months and reduced for 3 months. From November 2019 to March 2020, the increase in electricity prices was approved at Rs 4.26 per unit. From April to June, electricity prices were reduced by Rs 3.10 per unit.

The four-month increase in electricity prices will be applicable to August bills, the reduction in electricity prices will be applied to September bills, consumers will pay an additional Rs 30 billion in August, consumers will get relief of Rs 35 billion in September.

According to NEPRA, 300 units per month and agricultural consumers will not get relief. NEPRA has clarified that the increase and decrease in prices will be applicable after the notification of the government.
