Nelson Mandela International Day is being observed on Saturday on 102 birth anniversary of Mandela.
Nelson Mandela, who was born on July 18, 1918, devoted his life to the service of humanity as a human rights lawyer, an international peacemaker and the first democratically elected president of a free South Africa.
To mark the day, the United Nations said everyone has the ability and responsibility to change the world for the better.
Mandela Day is an occasion for all to take action and inspire change. The South African leader fought against racial segregation all his life.
Mandela was South Africa’s first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. He served as President of South Africa from 1994 to 1999.
