ISLAMABAD: Viewing the rising number of Coronavirus cases, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) on Monday announced that markets and businesses would observe two-day holidays a week from August 3.
Provinces will decide as to which days the holidays would be observed, said Federal Minister of Planning and Development and chief of the NCOC Asad Umar adding that timing for markets were again being set till 8:00pm. “Public transport will be operated with 50 percent occupancy. While, in-door dining will not be allowed because people took undue advantage of the facility,” he said.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan had already told that the government could not afford to shut down everything as lockdown affected earnings of people. “We have to protect health and employment of people too,” he maintained.
The minister also said that the restrictions imposed by the Sindh government in Karachi, Hyderabad and other cities would continue.
He said unfortunately COVID-19 had boosted rapidly during the last one week.
Asad Umar said that 50 percent attendance at offices should be ensured. He said the new restrictions would be imposed in Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Islamabad, Lahore and other cities.
