LONDON: Personal physician of Nawaz Sharif, Dr Adnan Khan said that the former prime minister has enlarged multiple lymph nodes in the right armpit.
Talking to media in London, “Former PM Nawaz Sharif had haematology/haemoncology evaluation at Guy’s & St Thomas’ Hospital, London. PET/CT FDG scan shows enlarged right axillary lymph nodes requiring further evaluation. Platelet count is subnormal and variable, while the patient is on medication to maintain the platelet count at a certain level,” Dr Adnan said adding that the thrombocytopenia treatment was continued and investigations were advised.
He said appointments had been made with vascular surgeons for further evaluation. He said Nawaz’s surgery or stenting could be conducted. “Another team of doctors is monitoring him for cardiac matters. Most likely, angiogram and angioplasty PCI will be planned,” he said.
