LAHORE: Punjab Health Minister Dr Yasmin Rashid on Thursday said former prime minister Nawaz Sharif could invite medical and health experts from abroad for his treatment, if he wished so.
Addressing a media conference, Dr Yasmin Rashid said PM Imran Khan had said whatever the court decision was regarding granting the patient bail, the government would accept and support it as it would be. The medical board has submitted a report to the court, she added.
“Being a patient, Imran Khan has sympathy with him,” she said.
To a query, she said on Wednesday Pakistan Muslim League-N (PML-N) Vice-President Maryam Nawaz had come to the hospital for medical checkup and after her reports were declared normal, she was returned back to prison.
The health minister also said the PM had allowed Maryam to visit her father, but he could not intervene in court’s matter.

She said apart from platelets, Nawaz was also suffering from blood pressure and diabetics. His platelets had increased from 20,000 to 22,000, she said.
Dr Yasmin said the reason behind her calling the urgent press conference was that Prime Minister Imran Khan had directed her to inform the media about Nawaz’s improving health condition.
“We are fully trying to provide Nawaz Sharif all the medical facilities,” she said.
The Punjab health minister had on Oct 24 said the former prime minister’s health condition was stable now and it would start improving in a couple of days.
“We have identified that Nawaz Sharif’s platelets are decreasing because of anti-bodies, therefore we have started administering injections for this. It will take a little time to cure. Immunoglobulins will attach themselves on anti-bodies now to stop their destructive job,” Dr Yasmin Rashid had said while addressing a press conference in Lahore.
