Naval chief, Chinese envoy discuss regional security situation

ISLAMABAD: Chinese Ambassador Yao Jing called on Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi at Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on Friday.
During the meeting, matters relating to maritime security of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor and regional security situation came under discussion.
The naval chief also highlighted the role of the Pakistan Navy in maintaining maritime security of the region.
The Chinese ambassador appreciated the role of Pakistan Navy for regional peace and stability.

On Sept 19, the Naval Chief Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi had said Pakistan Navy was fully capable and prepared to respond to any misadventure by the enemy.
He was addressing the concluding ceremony of Pakistan Navy’s war exercises ‘Shamsheer-e-Behr and Tarseel-e-Behr’ in Karachi.
The naval chief had said the geographical and political environment in the region had become much complicated after India’s illegal annexation of the occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
He had said India’s jingoistic attitude had posed serious threat to peace in the region. He said war exercises carried special significance in improvement of operational preparedness of the military.
Admiral Zafar Mahmood Abbasi had expressed satisfaction over successful holding of the war games and the proposals.
He had thanked the Army, Air Force and representatives of other ministries for fully participating in the exercises.
On Sept 17, a week-long multinational military exercise ‘TSENTR’ [Centre] 2019 under the ambit of Shanghai Cooperation Organization started at Donguz in Russia.
