Nation observes 69th death anniversary of Liaquat Ali Khan today

The death anniversary of Pakistan’s first Prime Minister Shaheed-i-Millat Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan is being observed across the country today.

Liaquat Ali Khan was born in Karnal‚ East Punjab, and he received his early education from Aligarh Muslim University, India and Oxford University, United Kingdom.

Khan also struggled with Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah to get a separate homeland for Muslims of sub-continent. 

Today marks the assassination of Liaquat Ali Khan in 1951 during a public meeting at Company Bagh in Rawalpindi. The place was later named after him and now it is known as ‘Liaquat Bagh’.           

The first Prime Minister of Pakistan is buried at Mazar-e-Quaid’s compound in Karachi.
