Najam Sethi-led management committee removed PCB’s Chief Selector

Former PCB Chairman Najam Sethi-led Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Management Committee on Friday removed all members of the cricket’s governing body including Chief Selector Mohammad Wasim, sources said.
According to sources, the PCB Management Committee has informed the members of the Governing Board that they have been sacked after the PCB 2019 Constitution stamped out.
Sources said that National team’s selector Mohammad Wasim was informed by email in the afternoon that his appointment was made under the PCB 2019 constitution and his post no longer holds.
The women selection committee and the junior’s selection committee will also be reconstituted, sources added.
Earlier, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has constituted a 14-member management committee and appointed former PCB chairman Najam Sethi as its chief, in order to revive the Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) 2014 Constitution.
The other committee members proposed by the prime minister include former star all-rounder Shahid Afridi, former Pakistan women’s captain Sana Mir, ex-Test cricketer Haroon Rashid and former cricketer Shafqat Rana. Former members of PCB’s board of governors including Shakil Sheikh, Gul Zada, Nauman Butt, Ayaz Butt and Arif Saeed were also named in the committee.
Other members include Supreme Court advocate Mustafa Ramday, former president Quetta Association Gul Muhammad, former president Larkana Tanvir Ahmed, and ex-director of PCB’s National High Performance Centre Aized Syed.
The PCB 2014 Constitution will reinstate the departmental sports in the country, which was earlier abolished by former prime minister Imran Khan.
