The defence ministry of the breakaway region of Nagorno-Karabakh has reported 54 more military casualties.

According to Russia’s Interfax news agency, the recent military causalities bring the death toll to 158.

The fighting erupted between Azerbaijan and Armenian forces on Sunday over Nagorno-Karabakh region which is part of Azerbaijan but controlled by ethnic Armenians.

Meanwhile, Armenia says it is ready to engage with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe to re-establish a ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh region.

OSCE’s Minsk Group was created in 1992 to mediate between Azerbaijan and ethnic Armenians over Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

It is co-chaired by France, Russia, and the United States.

A day ago, Russia had offered to host talks on ending the fighting between Azerbaijan and Armenian forces in the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh.

Russian Foreign Minister’s office had confirmed that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov made the offer in calls to both the governments and urged them to halt warlike rhetoric.
