NAB performs its duties independently: Shafqat Mehmood

ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mehmood Monday said National Accountability Bureau (NAB) was an independent institution, exercising duties without pressure.
Speaking to a news channel, he said the government believed strongly in the rule of law and sought to improve the national institutions.
The minister said the government had no connection with NAB issues, adding that opposition should support the government’s positive initiatives, but it was customary to criticize every step of the incumbent government for political point scoring alone.
He said the government needed support from the opposition to make laws or change parliamentary rules.
