Under the chairmanship of Sadiq Sanjrani, a Senate session on Friday (today) passed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Amendment Ordinance 2021.
Other than the NAB ordinance, the journalist protection bill was also passed by Senate.
Both the ordinance and bill were passed by the majority of government and its allies.
Human Rights Minister, Dr. Shireen Mazari presented the journalist protection bill.
Whereas the NAB ordinance was presented by Federal Minister for Law and Justice Barrister Farogh Naseem.
Today’s session was the same carbon copy of the Joint Parliament Session held on Wednesday. The bills were opposed by the opposition while the government was able to get the bills passed with a majority.
Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani tried his best to maintain discipline and order in the house but he was not successful in it. The opposition tore down the copies of bills and walked out of the house.
Previously on Wednesday, 33 bills and amendments were passed in the Joint Parliament Session with a majority even after a disagreement of the opposition.
Electronic Voting Machine (EVM), as well as voting rights for overseas Pakistanis bills were the most important talking point of that session.
