The National Accountability Bureau on Wednesday gave clean chit to two Pakistan Muslim League (Quaid-e-Azam)’s leaders – Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Chaudhry Parvez Elahi. The two 20-year-old inquiries were closed due to lack of evidence.
Chaudhry Shujaat is the president of PML-Q while Parvez Elahi is currently serving the post of Punjab Assembly Speaker.
The inquires against the Chaudhry brothers were launched in early 2000s. However, the Bureau has now submitted its report in the Lahore High Court clearing them and other family members of all charges for want of evidence.
A leader of PML-Q, which is an ally PTI-led government, told Dawn that since these cases had been pending for two decades, the Chaudhry brothers had provided the required records to NAB’s combined investigation teams probing the matter.
