PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has launched an investigation against Jamiat Ulema e Islam-F chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman for alleged illegal acquisition of land.
The NAB KP said that Chairman NAB Justice Javed Iqbal had initiated a complaint verification against Maulana Fazl in Government Transport Service land matter.
“A complaint received by the NAB alleges that the General Transport Service Department was shut down by the then Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. The department’s 64 kanal land worth Rs14 million was sold to the JUI-F chief for a meager amount of Rs4 million in complete violation of the law,” reads a notification issued by the NAB.
On Nov 30, the NAB had summoned two close associates of the JUI-F chief in a case pertaining to assets beyond means, corrupt practices and embezzlement.
Gul Asghar and Noor Asghar were summoned by NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Dec 10. A combined investigation team of the accountability bureau had grilled them in the case.
This should be noted that an investigation was launched against Fazlur Rehman as well in assets beyond means case on Sept 22.
