NAB arrests Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman in property fraud case
LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) on Thursday arrested Owner of Jang and Geo Group Mir Shakil-ur-Rahman on several charges including property fraud case in Lahore.
The Jang Group’s owner was summoned twice by the accountability watchdog and on his second appearance he was arrested.
He is alleged of getting illegal discount in 54 plots by the then Punjab chief minister Shahbaz Sharif. Earlier, he was grilled by the NAB officials for five hours on March 2, but he was summoned again for not giving satisfactory replies.
The NAB has reportedly arrested him for fear of the suspect’s flying abroad after he failed to satisfy the officials.
Moments before his arrest, talking to journalists, Shakil had said that he was a journalist and he would respond to the allegations through legal way.
He would be presented before the court on Friday (tomorrow) for seeking his judicial remand.
