NAB accuses former ambassador for embezzling millions
The National Accountability Bureau, has lodged a corruption case against the former ambassador of Pakistan, AS Babar Hashmi. He was charged with embezzlement of funds of the Pakistani Embassy in Bulgaria.
Babar Hashmi has been suspected to loot Rs 19 million from 2016 to 2018 along with the former accountant Tufail Qazi out of which Rs 4 million spent in throwing parties and paying for hotel rents. However, Tufail Qazi has been arrested.
According to the NAB, the inquiry was led on the demand of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Both the suspects have failed to provide their bank statements.
