Former Balochistan finance secretary Mushtaq Ahmed Raisani has been awarded 10-year jail term over corruption cases on Tuesday.
Apart from imprisonment, an accountability court also ordered that his properties should be seized too. The reserved verdict was announced by Accountability Court-I Judge Munawar Ahmed Shahwani.
There were several people who had been named in the case–contractor Sohail Majeed Shah was released following a plea bargain while former local government secretaries Faisal Jamal and Abdul Basit were acquitted in the case.
Meanwhile, the former adviser on finance, Khalid Lango, was also convicted and sentenced to two years and two months in prison.
Police arrested Raisani on May 6, 2016 and recovered cash and jewellery worth more than Rs640 million from his house.
