KARACHI: The chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman, said that during the holy month of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak he and Mufti Taqi Usmani would offer prayers at home.
Speaking on Wednesday to a private TV news channel, Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman said he was already offering prayers at home and that this activity will continue in Ramazan-ul-Mubarak as well.
He said implementation has begun on the 20-point agreement reached between the government and the Ulema. He appealed to the Ulema to abide by the Government agreement signed. “We will ensure that this agreement will get implemented,” he said.
Rehman recalled that Ulema had told the president and prime minister that, for congregational prayers, people 50 or older would not come to the mosques. Mufti Muneeb said Ulema would do its best to deliver on this promise.
He said markings for the rows of prayer were made in the mosques thus following the concept of social distancing.
He said there was instruction for special persons and the elderly to pray at their homes. He said people who have flu, cough and other respiratory diseases should not come to the mosques.
He added that there would be two congregational prayers Friday in mosques with less capacity and those in the densely populated areas.
