In the 31st match of the Pakistan Super League season six, Multan Sultans have qualified for the PSL 6 final after beating Islamabad United by 31 runs at Sheikh Zayed Stadium, Abu Dhabi.
Earlier, the Sultans won the toss and decided to bat first. The batting side scored 180 runs for the loss of five wickets in 20 overs.
Sohaib Maqsood made 59 runs, followed by Khushdil Shah (42) Johnson Charles (41). Meanwhile, Faheem Ashraf and Shadab Khan took two wickets each.
The chasing team was bowled out for 149 against the target of 181 runs as Sohail Tanvir and Blessing Muzarabani bagged three-wicket haul for the Sultans.
It is the first time that Multan Sultans have reached to the final of the tournament. However, Islamabad United had beaten Multan Sultans in two league stage matches.
After the league stage was concluded, Islamabad United stood first in the points table while the Sultans claimed the second position.
Karachi Kings and Peshawar Zalmi have also qualified for Eliminator-1 who will compete against each other on Monday at 11pm (local time).
The winner of the eliminator round will play against the United in the Eliminator-2 on Tuesday at 9pm (local time).
Earlier, the PSL6 was postponed in March due to growing Covid-19 concerns in Pakistan. It was later rescheduled in United Arab Emirates which resumed on June 9.
