Mufti Zarwali did not die of coronavirus: Qari Usman

KARACHI: Jamiat Ulema e Islam-Fazl leader Qari Usman on Tuesday said that contrary to media reports Jamia Ahsan ul Uloom’s principal Mufti Zarwali Khan died of cardiac arrest at the age of 67.
He said the founder of Karachi’s Jamia Ahsanul Uloom was a patient of heart disease. He went for a regular check-up on Sunday to the hospital and breathed his last during treatment for the ailment, he maintained.
Qari Usman said that Mufti Zarwali did not die of coronavirus.
On the other hand, citing hospital sources, local media had reported that the religious scholar died after contracting the viral disease.
Geo.TV website has quoted spokesperson of the Indus Hospital as saying that he was being treated for COVID-19 when he passed away.
Funeral prayer of the Mufti would be offered at 2:00pm at his seminary on Tuesday (today) in Karachi.
The scholar was born in Jehangira area of Swabi, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, in 1953. He established Ahsan-ul-Uloom in Karachi in 1978. He had close association with Maulana Yousaf Binori and Abdullah Kakakhail.
