Islamic scholar of international fame Mufti Taqi Usmani and another renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jamil have spoken up in support of Palestinians.
Mufti Taqi Usmani regretted that even Muslim rulers were silent on the open terrorism and state hooliganism at Masjid e Aqsa, let alone the torch-bearers of human rights.
“One must remember that time does not remain the same. God comes to see without a bell. It cannot be a cheap bargain to commit disloyalty towards Qibla e Awwal,” he said.
Condemning the Israeli barbarism on unarmed Palestinians at Qibla e Awwal, Maulana Tariq Jamil said his heart was crying over the brutality during Ramadan.
“May Allah (SWT) protect Bayt al-Maqdis and get our oppressed brothers and sisters rid of the (Israeli) tyranny,” he prayed.
At least 22 Palestinians including nine children have been martyred in Israeli airstrikes on the besieged Gaza Strip. The Palestinian Health Ministry confirmed these attacks.
Meanwhile, The UN Security Council held a huddle on the unrest in Jerusalem but issued no immediate statement, with diplomats saying the United States believed public comments would be counterproductive.
A spokesperson for the US mission to the UN said the United States is engaging constructively to ensure any action by the Security Council is helpful in de-escalating tensions.
