KARACHI: Shaykh al-Hadith and Darul Uloom Karachi Vice President Mufti Taqi Usmani Mufti Muhammed Taqi Usmani has expressed concern over Saudi Arabia’s changing attitude.
In a statement, the Islamic scholar of international fame said that the ruling government of Saudi Arabia was going astray from the path of founder of the kingdom, Malik Abdul Aziz. He also expressed reservation over restrictions on Hajj and Umrah.
“We have always been fans of Saudi Arabia because of the unparalleled service of the two holy sites and the pilgrims, but now the sad news that are coming through social media and direct as well are against the traditions of Islam and Malik Abdul Aziz himself,” he said.
Deployment of female police without hijab in Haram, opening of bazaars during prayers, restrictions on Hajj and Umrah, and above all, the denial of the Sunnah as evidence indicated that the country was changing, he maintained.
Therefore, Mufti Taqi Usmani said, the people and scholars of the Islamic world were all concerned because they had an intimate relationship with the two holy sites. “The Saudi Arabian government should reconsider its approach and reform,” he said.
It is pertinent here to mention that people have already heaped criticism upon the Kingdom for the restrictions on recently concluded Hajj and Umrah as well.
