A police investigation has found that Mufti Aziz ur Rehman lured his student, whose identity remains unrevealed, into committing sexual acts with him for three years by offering him help in exams.
The findings in the form of challan, were submitted to the court on Friday. According to Dawn‘s report, the student told the police that initially, Mufti Rehman had accused him of cheating in exams and got him banned from appearing in exams at the Wafaqul Madaris for three years.
After which he was lured into performing “immoral acts” with Mufti Rehman in the pretext of getting help in passing his exams, the investigation report mentioned.
“But despite a passage of three years, during which I was assaulted every Friday, he did nothing and started to blackmail me more,” the findings quoted him as saying.
The student claimed that the administration didn’t take any action against the cleric when he tried to raise the issue with it. He had been studying in Jamia Manzoorul Islamia since 2013.
Following the threats and the series of harassments, the student continued to meet Mufti Rehman in his office and recorded audio and video evidence of their interactions.
According to the police, when Mufti Rehman was fired from his job after the evidence was shown to the administration, his sons allegedly threatened the student with “dire consequences” to silence him.
As per the findings of the investigation, the sofas and curtains in the recorded video were found to be the same as the ones in Mufti Rehman’s office, making it clear that Mufti Azizur Rehman has engaged in and perpetrated immoral actions against the student, Dawn‘s report added.
In this regard, the three sons of Mufti Rehman were also held responsible for giving threats and warnings to the victim.
The news report said that a local court on Monday ordered the police to produce Mufti Rehman before it on October 4 for further developments in the case.
Earlier, in June, Mufti Aziz ur Rehman affiliated with Lahore’s Jamia Manzoor-ul-Islam, had been accused of sodomising a student of the seminary after a video of his act went viral on social media.
