MQM-P requests PM Shahbaz to intervene in implementation of agreement with PPP
Addressing a press conference in Karachi, MQM-P leader and former mayor Wasim Akhtar has requested Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif to intervene in the implementation of the agreement with PPP over supporting the coalition government.
Wasim Akhtar said that matters with the Sindh government were not moving forward. He informed the Prime Minister that Asif Ali Zardari should take our words seriously and the Prime Minister should intervene to implement the agreement.
Wasim Akhtar further said that we want urban and rural issues to be resolved, Asif Zardari and Bilawal Bhutto have also said that local government system should be empowered, but after the government was formed no progress is being made on the agreement.
Talking about the new local government system, he said that if the new local government act is not made, they will not participate in anything with the government. The Sindh government is still reluctant to give its powers to local bodies.
Referring to the local body elections in Sindh, he said that in the first phase of local body elections in Sindh, the turnout was low, there were riots, voters were scare and the election marks of the candidates were missing from the ballot papers.
