MPA Uzma Kardar removed from Media Strategy Committee
Member of the Punjab Assembly Ms. Uzma Kardar was removed as a member of the Punjab government’s Media Strategy Committee after an audio leak in which she can be heard talking against various ruling party leaders.
On Monday, the Punjab Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan released a notice in this regard. She has spoken about various leaders in the audio recording, including Defense Minister Pervaiz Khattack, Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar, Information Minister Fayyaz-ul-Hassan Chohan and Chair of Child Protection Bureau Ms. Sara Ahmad.
Chohan officially referred the matter to the chief minister ‘s notice before being relieved of her duties as a member of the Media Policy Committee.
Ms. Uzma Kardar also currently holds the post of Chair of the Standing Committee on Gender Mainstreaming of the Punjab Provincial Assembly.
Meanwhile, Ms. Kardar has called the audio leak a malicious campaign in a video message ahead of her possible induction into the Punjab cabinet.
She claimed to have filmed, skewed, and reconnected portions of her conversation to malign her.
Special Assistant to the PM for Overseas Pakistanis and & HRD Sayed Zulfi Bukhari took to Twitter and said,
“One can’t expect her to understand the calibre of First Lady but it is extremely shameful of Uzma Kardar to be talking behind her back. PM & First Lady’s respect comes foremost for all of us.
Embarrassing behaviour from anyone who claims to be associated with the party.”
Journalist Mansoor Ali Khan also shared thoughts on the matter saying,
“I think political parties should provide a list to all the journalists which contains names of all their MPAs and MNAs who shouldn’t be taken seriously so that next time we avoid them totally. Good idea?”
