Mother, Grandmother charged with Murder after 9-year-old girls dies from head lice infection

Sandra Kraykovich, 38 and Elizabeth Kraykovich, 64 have been arrested and charged with murder after a 9-year-old girl died from an infestation of head lice in Arizona, US.
According to foreign media reports, court documents state that a 9-year-old girl was found dead after doctors were called to a house in the Arizona US two months ago with a huge number of lice on her face.
The report said that after examination by the doctors, it was found that there were a lot of lice in the girl’s head.
According to reports, after the death of the girl, 38-year-old mother Sandra Kraykovich and 64-year-old grandmother Elizabeth Kraykovich were initially arrested on charges of child abuse, but later they were also charged with first-degree murder.
In an interview with police, Sandra reportedly stated that her daughter was anemic while she was having difficulty breathing on March 15 and was having difficulty balancing with symptoms of fever, headache, and sore throat.
According to the postmortem report, the girl died of anemia caused by a lice infection and her body was also malnourished.
One of the victim’s older siblings told police that her mother had tried to wash lice with a mouthwash.
According to foreign media reports, text messages in the mother’s mobile phone showed that she refused to treat her child despite showing symptoms.
Sandra sent messages to her boyfriend on March 14 and 15 that she needed to take her daughter to the hospital.
Sandra’s boyfriend, however, told her to take the baby to the hospital, but she reportedly refused.
The girl’s grandmother also knew she was seriously ill but refused to take her to the hospital.
Police said Sandra has admitted that her daughter died as a result of her negligence, and that if she had decided to seek medical attention, she might have survived.
