More than 2000 COVID-19 cases reported after one month

According to the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), over 2000 cases of the novel coronavirus have been reported on Thursday. The daily tally has been witnessed for the first time since January 29.
Around 2,258 cases have been reported with 53 new deaths in the last 24 hours as 42,164 countrywide tests were conducted.
In a region-wise breakdown of cases, Punjab has reported most cases with 1,290 people turns out to be positive followed by Islamabad (350 cases), KP (289 cases), Sindh (256 cases), AJK (57 cases) and Balochistan (16 cases).
No case was reported in Gilgit-Baltistan as the region has been declared Pakistan’s first ‘corona-free’ region with no active cases also.
Due to worsening situation of COVID-19 positive cases, the authorities reviewed the restrictions on Wednesday.
According to the statistics, the country’s coronavirus positivity rate has shot up to 5.36%. The data and experts suggest that Pakistan seems to be heading towards a third wave.
Moreover, there are total 17,627 active cases in the country as of today while 1,277 patients have been recovered in the last 24 hours.
