More than 100 Pakistanis have died in the United States of America from coronavirus in the New York area where at least 8,000 people have died from the disease.

According to details gathered from hospitals, funeral homes and relatives, Pakistan’s Consul General Ayesha Ali, more than 100 Pakistanis have died from the New York-New Jersey region’s novel coronavirus.

Pakistan Embassy spokeswoman Zoobia Masood told a media source that several Pakistanis are believed to have died in other states as well. “We are still collecting information about how this disease has affected the

Pakistani-American community,” the spokesperson added. Officials believe the death toll will increase as more information filters in.

The death toll in the US exceeded Spain’s, with nearly 18,000 deaths from the virus announced by Friday afternoon. The reports of coronavirus in the US toped 500,000 the same day.
