 More rains expected in Karachi

KARACHI: More rains are expected in Karachi as the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast heavy rains with strong winds and thundershowers across Sindh including Karachi on Saturday and Sunday.

In this regard, the Pakistan Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has directed the concerned agencies to take precautionary measures in view of monsoon rains across the province. The PMDA warned that there was a danger of widespread destruction because of strong winds. “There is also the possibility of striking of lightning,” it said.

The PDMA has issued instructions about six districts of Karachi, besides it also directed the deputy chiefs of all the districts of Sindh to adopt precautionary measures to prevent from any disaster.

According to a statement of the spokesperson of the meteorological department issued earlier, more monsoon rain and winds were expected to enter Sindh from Friday to Sunday. As a result, there were chances of blowing of strong winds and thundershowers in Mirpur Khas, Umerkot, Sanghar and Mithi.
