Moon to align directly above the Holy Kaaba today
Muslims all over the world on Tuesday will be able to spot the Qibla simply by facing the moon as it will align directly above the Holy Kaaba at Makkah.
The astronomical society in Jeddah stated that the moon will appear perpendicular to the Kaaba on the night of Jamadi al-Awwal 12, 1444 at 11:06 pm Makkah time, and it can be seen with the naked eye.
Engineer Majed Abu Zahra, the chairman of the Jeddah Astronomical Society, predicts that the moon will set just over the Holy Ka’aba and will be 98% brighter than usual.
“The moon will be at an altitude of 89.5 degrees, and it will illuminate by 98.% of the sunlight,” he said.
“This celestial phenomenon will enable people all over the Earth who can see the moon at that moment to determine the direction of the Qibla through the simplest and easiest ways,” Saudi astronomers said.
