Mobile phone services to remain suspended in 13 KP districts for two days
PESHAWAR: As the mourning processions and gatherings in connection with Muharram continue in Peshawar and other areas, the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has requested the center to suspend mobile phone services in 13 districts on Muharram 9 and 10.
Following which, the federal government has approved the request for suspension of mobile phone services at 1400 places of 13 districts of the province and the concerned mobile companies have been directed to shut down mobile phone services in those areas.
Mobile phone services will be closed from 6 am to 11 pm on 9th Muharram and 10th Muharram.
The Home Department had recommended suspension of mobile phone services in Peshawar, Haripur, Abbottabad, Mansehra, Kohat, Kurram, DI Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Nowshera and Mardan.
Apart from the concerned district officials, the officials of mobile phone companies have also been informed about the closure of mobile phone services.
On the other hand, Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed on Tuesday said suspension of mobile phone services would be carried out in different parts of the country as per the need.
