The Meteorological Department on Monday said that rains were expected in Karachi on September 1 and 2.
Director Met Officer Sardar Sarfaraz said that Karachi’s weather would remain hot on August 23 and there was no possibility of rain for now. The mercury may rise to 35-36 C, however clouds will begin covering the megalopolis from Tuesday.
The city is also likely to experience strong winds and showers at night and in the morning from Tuesday.
Sardar Sarfaraz said that this entire week there was no chance of an unusual rain in the city, however it was expected that rain may happen in the end of August or beginning of September. He clarified that rains are likely to start in Sindh after August 31, which may extend to Karachi. Nevertheless, rains here may happen on September 1 and 2.
He relayed that light and moderate rains happened in Umerkot and Tharparker during the last few days, but the spell remained restricted to that region and stopped after reaching Rajasthan.
