Mehwish Hayat feels sad to bid farewell to Thomas Drew

Tamgha-e-Imtiaz recipient Mehwish Hayat expressed her sadness after Thomas Drew, former British High Commissioner to Pakistan, said good-bye to Pakistan.

In a tweet, Mehwish told that how sad she feels to see Thomas Drew leave Pakistan. She also wrote that she will miss their hilarious conversation on cricket. She wrote,

“Sad to see Thomas Drew leave. Not only is he the consummate diplomat who has done so much for Anglo-Pakistan relations, but has also become a dear friend.”

Sad to see @TomDrewUK leave. Not only is he the consummate diplomat who has done so much for Anglo-Pakistan relations, but has also become a dear friend. I shall miss his sense of humour & our conversations on cricket. Hope to see you here for PSL. Good luck on your next posting pic.twitter.com/m9QrRiwY7t

In reply to Hayat’s tweet, Thomas thanked her and said that he is sad too for leaving Pakistan.

“Thank you for introducing me to Pakistan’s creative talent, for what you do on education and things both our countries care about, and for your friendship. I look forward to following your future success,” he wrote.

Thank you, Mehwish. I too am sad to be leaving. Thank you for introducing me to Pakistan’s creative talent, for what you do on education and things both our countries care about, and for your friendship. Look forward to following your future success.

Before leaving back to his homeland, Drew thanked Pakistan for giving him the best 4 years of his life.

“That’s it. Waiting at Islamabad airport at the end of 4 wonderful years in Pakistan. Here, though, is a photo of a happy moment – in the mountains of the North earlier this year. Thank you Pakistan.”
